Upgrading furniture is wonderful but it does create the need to have your old furniture removed for disposal or recycling. We get a lot of requests for rubbish removal related to old furniture including lounge suites, sofas, couches, recliners, daybeds, armchairs, plus large wardrobes and cupboards that are too heavy or bulky for one person to move easily.
Let’s be real though, a lot of these items can be reused, recycled or donated and when that’s possible, that’s exactly what we do. If a lounge suit is damaged though disposal is best. For example stains or covers shredded or vinyl peeling there’s not a lot that can be done and recovering is usually almost as expensive as replacing.
Large wooden wardrobes and cupboards are often pulled out of homes being upgraded to more modern options such as walk-in wardrobes or built-ins. These days the sheer size and difficulty in moving them is what makes them hard to take care of. Even if you find someone who will use it, collection and delivery is tricky.
Mat and the team have 25+ years experience in rubbish removal in Brisbane and can collect these items for disposal or donation. They pickup the old furniture and load with ease and make sure that good items are donated or reused.
Some of this happens at the resource centre and sometimes if we’re aware of a need we drop these items off. The local council in Brisbane operates Treasure Troves so that these items can be donated and they are collected at the resource recovery centres ready to go to these stores. This is a much better solution than the hard rubbish removal which essentially is just crushing items and sending them to landfill sites!
