Catching up with the founder of Brizzy Rubbish Removals

Mat and Mike from Brizzy Rubbish Removals catching up in Austria at Christmas

From a Chance Phone Call to a Shared Christmas in Austria.

A Story of Family, Friendship, and Building Something That Lasts

Some business stories begin with spreadsheets and strategy sessions.
This one began with a second-hand car, a casual conversation, and a phone call that changed everything.

At Christmas, Mat and Toni travelled with the family to Austria. It wasn’t a business trip. It wasn’t a conference. It was about spending time with a good friend Mike Paulik the original founder of Brizzy Rubbish Removals.

That friendship, however, has roots that stretch back many years… and started in the most unexpected way.

A Job Offer That Came From a Car Sale

Years ago, Mat bought a car from someone who happened to work for Mike at Brizzy Rubbish Removals. As the seller prepared to head back to the UK, he left Mat with a simple piece of advice:

“Give Mike a call about a job.”

So Mat did.

The phone call turned into work.
The work turned into many  years on the job.
And those years turned into relationships built on trust, loyalty, and shared values.

Mat worked closely with Mike for many years, both learning the business from the ground up and not just how to remove rubbish, but how to show up for customers, support a team, and run a business with integrity and respect for clients. When Mike sold the business to Craig, Mat stayed on, continuing the journey and helping the business grow under new ownership.

Knowing When It’s Time to Build Your Own Path

Eventually, the time came for Craig to retire and sell the business.

For Mat, this was a moment of reflection and opportunity.

He knew it was time to forge his own future. Not by walking away from the past, but by carrying everything he’d learned into something new.

In early 2023, SEQ Rubbish Removals was born.

Rubbish Removals Success That Goes Beyond Business

Today, the story has come full circle.

A Christmas spent overseas with family. A visit with the friend who helped start it all.
And a reminder that real success isn’t just measured in growth charts or online visibility — it’s measured in relationships that last decades, families that can travel together, and businesses built on respect.

From a chance conversation to an established local business, Mat’s journey is proof that the strongest foundations, in life and online, are built through people, trust, and community.

And more often than not, the best business stories don’t start with a plan… they start with a simple phone call and the desire to do honest work, treat people well and build something you’re proud to pass on.
